  • PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this project is to restore existing utility services to a 24-hour a day/7 day a week prison due to existing steam pipe failure. This project had overall minority participation (WBE or MBE) of 7.5%.

This project is designed to last a minimum of 20 years and is able to facilitate any future maintenance required. This project has unique needs including thermal expansion, freeze protection, live loads, dead loads and thrust loads; these along with the site elevation and presence of groundwater require our design to account for proper drainage. The work that was included in our contract was:

    • Engineering
    • Utility Work
    • Road Construction
    • Damp Proofing
    • Excavation
    • Sidewalk repair
    • Waterproofing
    • Coring
    • Exterior and Interior Wall repair
    • Concrete Trench Boxes
    • Piping
This project required coordination with several entities including the State of Pennsylvania, The Department of Corrections, local municipality and our design engineer in regards to permits, street closures, and security. In order to maintain the integrity of the secure facility, our onsite foreman coordinated all subcontractors with the Dept. of Corrections and with the assistance of the main office.

AML has performed all piping, and setting of trench boxes with crane lifts and onsite coordination with the design-build professional and end.
